Data storage
The storage of multi-component raw as well as parameterized data derived from different analysis steps significantly lag behind today’s data acquisition capabilities. Data storage and integration methods using unified exchange standards are urgently needed in order to perform multi-variate data analyses, taking into account different data sources. Recent developments for unifying data exchange protocols and parameter data browsing, as made for example in the field of European seismology (XML-Quake, XML-SEED, NERIES, webDC, SeisComp) will be taken into account. This sub-workpackage focuses on complementing and broadening those purely seismological approaches in the field of volcanology.

One main task is to design of an innovative IT-architecture forming an “expert system”, which is modular and flexible for integrating future data representation and analysis tools. In doing so, it is possible to use a new IT-architecture for handling seismology data (observation and simulation) currently developed at LMU München within a DFG funded project. On the same level it is possible to in cooperate the expertise and the software for data processing and analysis existing at the SZGRF. This expert system forms the top-level interface of the early warning chain.
