4 Using the outputs

Once an event is classified a XML file containing a unique event ID, the event type, the onset time, the duration and a confidence measure is generated and stored in the data base.

4.1 Data visualization with the Web GIS

The number of classified events can be shown in Exupéry web GIS under WP5 in add layer menu. Seismic data control shows the number of events of distinct seismic event types. Since different event types are associated with different physical processes it gives information on the activity status of the monitored volcano. After choosing a specific time range the event types recognized within that window are shown. The number of events is additionally displayed by a histogram.

4.2 Metadata structure

The main metdadata structure (witten to an XML file) is as follows:

- <infrared volcano_id="0101-06=" project_id="ExuperyTest">
+ <detectionID>
+ <evType>
+ <evConfidence>
+ <start_datetime>
+ <end_datetime>
+ <ContributingStations>

The <detectionID> gives a unique event ID, based on the detected start time of the event. The <evType> specifies the type of the detected event. The <evConfidence> measure is a list of values giving the confidence level for each type of event. It ranges between 0 and 1. The type given in <evType> corresponds to the maximum value within the list. The list of <ContributingStations> gives the list of stations, the event was detected on.
