2 Software installation

A detailed description of the database an updated installation instruction and an extensive description (the Ph.D thesis of Robert Barsch) can be found on www.seishub.org. The data are send via HTTP PUT to the database as XML. The mapper on the database side parse the XML and set the indices in a postgis table. In order to retrieve data, an request is send via HTTP GET to the database. The URL is actually a mapper which queries the database for the corresponding entries and returns the request as an XML document.

A description of the mappers for the different subprojects can be found in the Seishub Exupery Wiki:

The mapper are simple python classes which use XPATH or SQL syntax for querying the database. An simple example which could be used as recipe can be found here: Alert Level Mapper Example

VirtualBox Image

As the installation process of SeisHub and the Exupery GIS is quite tedious, we provide a Virtual Box image. For more info, follow this link.
